HARRY STYLES - APERTURE

 Without a doubt this is the biggest new release of the week but is it worth it?"Aperture" is the lead single from "Kiss All the Time. Disco" album to be released later this year.The song is a non-typical, risky, non-radio-friendly track without a clear climax and without a destination that hardly would ever notice if the name wasn't Harry Styles.Different genre elements hard to distinguish is a risk he takes just because he can but even if Harry is what he is right now doesn't mean that after few days we will be willing to press the start button again.He needs a second single asap cause the disappointment after hearing "Aperture" is big.I don't think i will change my mind over this single cause fame is one thing and releasing a crap is another.

ARCTIC MONKEYS & WAR CHILD RECORDS - OPENING NIGHT

  Earlier this month the non-profit organization War Child which works to protect and educate children affected by war shared a post on social media, hinting that a charity album was in the works.This comes 35 years after the release of the first album "Help" and having Arctic Monkeys on board for this new effort is great news for fans.Alex Turner and his band have joined forces for new music and "Opening Night" is one of the best things i have heard so far this month.Haunted Cure riffs in the opening of the track that bursts into a perfect pop rock patern is a very convincing way to give the song a perfect rate.

 We are used to Jessie Ware's cool songs no matter what and her brand new single doesn't dissapoints once again. With new material almost three years after her fifth studio album "That! Feels Good!" which means a new album is on the way "I Could Used To This" is another proof that she is one of the cement but underrated contemporary pop headliners of British music that has a solid fan base that follows every step she does.The single is being presented as a key opening statement that could shape the next stage of her recording and performance strategy.A good choice to renew your playlist without a doubt.

Breathe Out".

 And right before the electronic ink dry Hannah Boleyn's last November cover on Massive Attack's "Teardrop" gets a second chance with this drum n bass remix by Friction and Subsonic.Last Thursday i mentioned the song when her Claptone collaboration released and it's another proof of good songs don't often get their chance to glow.Maybe this remix will give this cover version the best by far in 2025 the spread out it deserves.Hannah Boleyn has captured my attention this year and hopefully she will make a hit.

 Living country legend Dolly Parton deserves any respect no matter what kind of music you like.Celebrating her 80th birthday she released a new rendition of her classic "Light of a Clear Blue Morning" released 50 years ago. Lainey Wilson, Miley Cyrus, Queen Latifah and Reba McEntire are featured on this all star new version which serves as a charity single for Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. The single and music video, which also features David Foster on piano and The Christ Church Choir on backing vocals is already at the highest itunes chart positions both in USA and in the Uk. This recording reimagines the song with a message of spreading love and hope and she deserves not only a happy birthday but our respect.

CHARLI XCX - WALL OF SOUND

 Her effort for the "Wuthering Heights" ost showed a different aspect of Charli XCX's musical destination and if the movie was among the ones for the Oscar race she could also get a nomination which is not possible but we have to wait a little longer. Her new single "Wall of Sound " is the third one released from the soundtrack following the singles "House" a collaboration with John Cale, and  "Chains of Love".The track unfolds slowly, built on electronically processed strings, autotune and repetitive vocal lines, creating an introspective and melancholic atmosphere, where tension and repetition dominate.Now that she is a star a chart appearence is very possible.

GORILLAZ ft BIZARRAP, KARA JACKSON & ANOUSHKA SHANKAR - ORANGE COUNTY

 I m not the biggest Gorillaz fan but when they have a good single i say it.In fact Gorillaz have dropped two new singles, "The Hardest Thing" and "Orange County", which feature collaborations from Bizarrap, Kara Jackson and Anoushka Shankar.These are also gonna be featured on their forthcoming album, "The Mountain", which is set for release on February 27."Orange County" has this uplifting and optimistic approach that really drew my attention with Kara Jackson on vocals, and by 14-time Grammy-nominated sitar player Anoushka Shankar.This is a nice one...

GHOST - IT'S A SIN

 Covers continue in 2026 and they will since especially the 80s still have huge impact."It's a Sin" is a cover of the song by Pet Shop Boys that was included on the Deluxe Edition of the album "Prequelle" by the Swedish band Ghost. Being a bonus track, it was not originally available on any streaming and was limited availability of the song physically.Now every Ghost fan can grab their hands on this metal cover of an iconic 80s song and although i m not really impressed cause they have made better covers in the past this is an interesting new release this week.Ghost previously released a covers EP called :Phantomime" in 2023 including renditions of songs by Iron Maiden, Genesis and Tina Turner, among others.

CLAPTONE, HANNAH BOLEYN - BLACK & GOLD

 This pair is hard to beat and the result is one of the best (so far) new releases in dance music this week.Claptone needs no introduction a regular visitor on my blog.On the other hand Hannah Boleyn keeps rising with one great tune after another. With multiple collaborations with names like John Summit, Billie Gillies, D.O.D and one of the best cover version last year on "Teardrops" i was expecting "Black & Gold" being just as good as it is.This is propably going to be overlooked by the charts but do a favour in your playlist and add it.Both radio friendly and mainstream is a combination you can't ignore..

CHVRCHES - ADDICTED TO LOVE

 We all are aware of what impact have the tv series in music with the latest being the one "Stranger Things" had with multiple classic singles entering the charts once again.How about a cover bersion this time....Hulu released the first three episodes from "Tell Me Lies" season 3 on Jan. 13 and on episode one the closing song is a cover version of Ropert Palmer's "Addicted To Love" by the CHVRHES. Now cover versions are often sound very close to the original and sometimes nothing like them.This one is a totally different sound and the only thing that reminds it are the lyrics.CHVRCHES made this haunting version of the song which is so addictive that immediately created an impact in my playlist.Fans of "Tell Me Lies" are also impressed as all music lovers should.Once again the 80s are here....

 Max Styler is among the djs to look up to in 2026 and this rework is a proof of what to expect from him this year.Blending the classic's melodic elements with rolling basslines and a 303-inspired drop, this rework has already been met with heavy support from the biggest names in the dance world.The original released by the Dutch duo Three Drives back in 1997 is considered already a classic dance anthem that it will continue to inspire future djs making their own updates of this great dance anthem.

 Once again Tik Tok is the reason for a major hit that is spreading around the globe like a virus right now.I gathered all the avaliable infos about who is responsible behing this song and here it is.Mikey better known by his stage name mikeeysmind, is a 24-year-old musical artist, producer, entrepreneur, and social media marketer.Known for his genre-blending sound and captivating performances, mikeeysmind is a versatile creator with a passion for innovation. Outside of music, he’s a skilled entrepreneur and crypto trader, managing major social media accounts and building digital influence behind the scenes.And if he is able to manage and built digital influence then why not make his production trending.What he did is a afro-soul cover version of Stromae's 12 years ago song "Papaoutai" with the help of Chill77 and Unjaps.Chill77 is an artist known for creating remixes and Afro Soul/House versions of popular songs.And this combination not only worked but is going to take the place of KATO''s "Turn The Lights Off" well.....everywhere.The title name is a play on the French phrase "Papa où t'es?" (Dad, where are you?) exploring themes of paternal absence, with Stromae's father leaving him and later dying in the Rwandan genocide.

 Every year the number of posts here are falling not only due to lesser and lesser truly hits but because the selection for posting something here must obey some standards.And the brand new single by ASAP Rocky not only does that but it comes as a surpise."Punk Rocky" is the lead single from his upcoming album "Don’t Be Dumb", out next Friday January 16, and it features a psychedelic rock sound nothing close to what you ever heard from him.With a video featuring Winona Ryder, Danny Elfman, Thundercat and more this will be his first album in eight years after his legal battle for a shooting where he was found not guilty.This single is one of the most unexpected music turns i ever heard from a rapper and if that sets the tone for the forthcoming album then there are bigger surprises on the way.Kinda Outkast feeling here...

MADONNA - LA BAMBOLA (FOR DOLCE & CABBANA- THE ONE)

 The official beginning of Madonna's latest chapter with the launch of a major Dolce & Gabbana advertising campaign for The One fragrance is here and if that doesn't excites fans and the world of music then i don't know what does.She's recorded a song specifically for the commercial, and she's singing it entirely in Italian. No, we're not talking about the first single from her upcoming dance album, but the wait for that is almost over too.The song is a cover of Patty Pravo's iconic "La Bambola" one of the most celebrated hits in Italian pop history. Released in 1968, "La Bambola" became a feminist anthem during a transformative period in Italian society, challenging traditional gender roles and female objectification at a time when women's liberation movements were gaining momentum across Europe. Madonna's choice to reinterpret this particular song feels especially significant given her own decades-long advocacy for female empowerment and sexual liberation.This is one of the very few times Madonna is making a cover version and the first in her heritage language.If i m not mistaken her "Santa Baby" cover for "A Very Special Christmas" ,"American Pie" by Don McLean along with the songs from "Evita" and "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" are some of the few she recorded in her long career.We are ready for the queen anyway and always.

 Blending rap, European music and fashion makes Lil Uzi Vert's new single quite an interesting addition on the charts.The first release from an upcoming album, this catchy chanson d’amour features a hypnotic sample, in French, from Indila’s "Love Story" a huge European hit 11 years ago."What You Saying" video is a full-blown fashion show creating the suitable enviroment for this genre-blending music cocktail. Uzi recruits Adriana Lima to star as the line’s top runway model, and the clip also sees a cameo from decorated designer Marc Jacobs, along with agent Kyle Hagler, stylist Law Roach and artist Lola Leon.The song soon enough will be a Billboard chart single and hopefully will expand in Europe.

With a Uk number one album "Don't Tell The Dog" last year i don't think that many are familiar with his work.His long-awaited release of his single "California Rain" is going to offer him his first hit single and his chance for the world to know him just like it happened with Benson Boone or Alex Warren.The song is instantly nostalgic, the opening guitar riff is straight from 2010s indie era and it's already trending too much in the Uk a place where most of the things start in music.With this kick start this year anything is possible for James Marriott.

The world is turning upside down and last year's "I/O" by Peter Gabriel becomes this year's "O/I" continuing his groundbreaking journey in art-rock.Peter Gabriel will be releasing a song from the new album every full moon, in two different versions: the Dark-Side Mix by Tchad Blake and the Bright-Side Mix by Mark 'Spike' Stent , accompanied by a piece of artwork.  This is the first post for 2026 and the first song that has 2026 on it's release date. If wishes are the only thing these days only to find out that this year will be exactly like the previous ones then you better realise that in life happiness are just moments and nothing special to expect.All you have to do is survive and try to stay healthy in order to live these moments.Next year you will be only wishing that next year will better than this one.Seems that humans need to hope in order to get through life.What i need is health and music and that's exactly what i m going to do this year too.

Katseye's "Gabriella" was one of the best pop songs of 2025 if you ask me and it still has streaming and radio fuel to grow more in 2026.But the girl band needs more "music fuel" to burn out there. They have the vocals, the looks, the charisma and the dance abilities but "Internet Girl" is not the right choice.That means that it won't get in my playlist but with the growing fame they get it won't surprise me if they get another hit.They should be getting more "Gabriellas" and less crap...
