Yes again and again and Again....The British music treasure continues to create music if not for others (lately Pink's "Trustfall") then for the things he likes and that is dance music.This time out, he's collaborating with fellow UK musician Mike Skinner of The Streets and Irish singer-songwriter Dermot Kennedy on a new track called "Mike (desert island duvet)".Mike Skinner – who is the namesake of the song this time out – lays down a couple of thoughtful verses in the almost spoken-word inflected cadence that has become such an iconic staple of his sound over the emotive production. Dermot Kennedy, meanwhile, adds some melodies into a haunting chorus between them.Fred never dissapoints....
As the year ends i see more and more people posting what they bought, heard or loved from music this year.And you know what digital music is so poor in showing to others.Back in the days i could show you the singles i bought, the albums i loved by touching the sleeves but today only few buy music in physical form and even when they do there are few out there to purchase.Back in the days when music was touchable there were tons of great singles and albums and you didn't know what to choose from.Today i see music influencers on the social media reviewing albums from artists like Charli XCX or Rina Sawayama and so on by saying how great albums were and what impact they made in their pop music life.Yes there is good music out there but it can't be compared with music from the 80s and artists from the past and that's the truth.Charli XCX yes had a good pop album but it made no impact to music in general.Only 2 or three albums this year had this privilege and this is really poor.
Maybe that's why so many artists look back and choose from the past so much.It's because the impact of yesterday's music infused with our dna and remains there as a secret memory.Chris Rea's "Driving Home For Christmas" is a classic and Dermot Kennedy made a cover for it this holiday season.What i like is that he made it his own and didn't actually repeat it.Take a listen..
There is nothing better for a music blogger to have nice songs waiting patiently their turn for my spotlight here.And Dermot Kennedy's brand new single which has already been reviewed early September is one of those nice songs that when it gets a remix it gets even better especially if the one who remixed is Paul Woolford."Kiss Me" is a slow burner in the Uk that already has huge sales but not that much streaming and radio plays.Thank god all the rest are increasing and this remix will help the song of becoming a hit.And if not it was so nice to came across our paths..

The newest single by Dermot Kennedy took it's time until take off cause it's in that position in the Uk chart and you will see it soon enough. "Better days" is a slow burner and now it has a dance version by the succesfull Galantis if you are not into the original version. Besides Dermot Kennedy made a dance record with Meduza few months ago and probably we will have a remix by them very soon. Be optimistic cause better days are coming...
Both Dermot Kennedy and Tom Grennan are the two artists in the Uk charts with the most appealing and potential the last few months. Will they remain like that or vanish in the jungle of the music industry nobody knows. The optimistic and piano driven new Dermot Kennedy single "Better Days" is a very good choice between the new arrivals in music this week and definetely a future chart hit in the island. H επιτυχία του "Paradise" εδραιώνεται βδομάδα με την βδομάδα και είναι πλέον σίγουρο πως το τραγούδι θα είναι ένα από αυτά που το καλοκαίρι θα παίζουν πολύ. Από την άλλη ο Topic θα έχει και φέτος επιτυχία μαζί με τους ATB και το "Your Love". Στo remix αυτό βάζει την σφραγίδα του πάνω στον ήχο των Meduza και είναι ίσως το καλύτερο απ όσα έχουν κυκλοφορήσει μέχρι τώρα..
Όπως είχα γράψει και στις αρχές της εβδομάδας η κορυφή του Uk chart δεν θα έφευγε από τα χέρια της Olivia Rodrigo ενώ ο Kid Laroi φτάνει στο νούμερο 2 και θυμάστε τι είχα γράψει για το "Without You" μήνες πριν γι αυτό το τραγούδι (αν όχι ψάξτε την ετικέτα με το όνομα του). Από την άλλη ο Meduza κάνει πολύ μεγάλη επιτυχία μπαίνοντας στην πεντάδα κυρίως λόγω της παρουσίας του Dermot Kennedy του οποίου η φωνή έχει ιδιαίτερη πέραση στο νησί. Επίσης η υψηλότερη νέα είσοδος είναι το "Wellerman" του Nathan Evans και ήμουν από τους πρώτους που έγραψα γι αυτό το viral song και το βρήκατε στην σελίδα του Sound Fist ως mp3.Την επόμενη εβδομάδα μάλλον θα χτυπήσει και την κορυφή. Τώρα επειδή το "Paradise" έχει ήδη την φούρια του και κερδίζει διαρκώς έδαφος και στην Ελλάδα αυτό είναι ένα νέο remix του από τον Who για να γεμίσει τα ηχεία σας...
Μπορεί το "Paradise" του Meduza με τον Dermot Kennedy να είναι "παλιό" για όσους παρακολουθούν το blog μου αυτό δεν σημαίνει όμως ότι έχει φτάσει στο peak του μια και τα πράγματα πηγαίνουν από το καλό στο καλύτερο.Έτσι δεν αποκλείεται πολύ σύντομα να βρεθεί Top 10 στην Βρετανία ενώ και σε πολλές Ευρωπαικές χώρες η άνοδος του και η ταμπέλα hit και για τους δυο τους μπορεί να θεωρηθεί αξιόπιστη. Αυτή είναι μία πολύ ενδιαφέρουσα acoustic version του τραγουδιού που στέκεται άνετα και στα μη pop ραδιόφωνα αφού έχει την στόφα μιας πολύ καλής σύνθεσης...
Απ ότι φαίνεται αρχίζει να ξεφτίζει η μπογιά σιγά σιγά του Meduza ο οποίος μετά τις 2 πρώτες μεγάλες επιτυχίες βαδίζει στην σχετική επιτυχία αφού το νέο του single με τον πολλά υποσχόμενο Dermot Kennedy στα φωνητικά δημιουργεί χαμηλού ύψους απόνερα στο Βρετανικό chart. To πρώτο του remix είναι από τους Cassian οι οποίοι το κάνουν πιο ενδιαφέρον αν με ρωτάς αφαιρώντας το trademark του Meduza ως ήχος αφού του βάζουν μία trance πινελιά που ξαναλέω....το κάνει καλύτερο...
Λυπάμαι πολύ που είμαι τόσο γρήγορος ώστε αυτή την στιγμή που γράφω να μην υπάρχει ακόμα preview στο You Tube για το νέο single του Meduza (και το οποίο θα προσθέσω μόλις εμφανιστεί αλλά έχει φτάσει στα χέρια μου και θα πρέπει να το παρουσιάσω. Όσοι είστε βέβαια ακόλουθοι του Sound Fist στο Facebook θα μπορείτε να το κατεβάσετε και να το ακούτε όσες φορές θέλετε οι υπόλοιποι θα κάνετε λίγη υπομονή. Πέρυσι ο Meduza είχε μία εξαιρετική χρονιά με πολλές επιτυχίες και απ ότι φαίνεται με την επιστράτευση του Dermot Kennedy θέλει να κάνει αισθητή την παρουσία του ξανά στην Μεγάλη Βρετανία. Η αλήθεια είναι όμως πως το "Paradise" δεν έχει την δυναμική των δύο πρώτων single. Αυτό δεν σημαίνει πως δεν είναι καλό...Απλά δεν είναι τόσο catchy όσο το περίμενα..
Ένα από τα τραγούδια που δεν του έδωσαν ιδιαίτερη σημασία οι περισσότεροι και αυτό συμπεριλαμβάνει και εμένα είναι το "Giants" το τελευταίο single του Dermot Kennedy. Το τραγούδι όμως αποδεικνύεται grower που όσο το ακούει κανείς τόσο συνδέεται μαζί του. Απόδειξη είναι οι πωλήσεις του στην Βρετανία οι οποίες είναι αυξανόμενες και το Top 20 μάλλον το αδικεί συγκριτικά με την απόδοση του. Το BBC το έχει στο heavy rotation ήδη και αυτή είναι μία μάλλον Kygo εκδοχή του από τον Daniel Blume..
Καλό είναι έστω και μετά από σχεδόν ένα χρόνο που έχω μιλήσει για αυτό το τραγούδι να βρίσκει τελικά την επιτυχία που του αξίζει. Στην Βρετανία λοιπόν ξαφνικά (ω τι θαύμα!!!) ανακάλυψαν πόσο καλό είναι το "Power Over Me" του Dermot Kennedy και είπαν να το σπρώξουν στο ραδιόφωνο λίγο παραπάνω. Και τι θα κάνει ο κόσμος που ακούει ένα τόσο καλό τραγούδι; Θα το αγοράσει...
Και επειδή η δύναμη του original μπορεί να μετατραπεί και σε dance anthem ποιοι καλύτεροι από τους Meduza που είναι από τα πιο καυτά club ονόματα αυτή την στιγμή. Εξαιρετική η δουλειά που έκαναν αλλά θα με συγχωρήσουν προτιμώ το original λίγο περισσότερο. Οι djs πάντως θα πετάξουν την σκούφια τους...

O Dermot Kennedy είναι μία πολύ ενδιαφέρουσα περίπτωση για φέτος αν και δεν ξέρουμε τι θα κάνει του χρόνου. Προς το παρόν μόλις κυκλοφόρησε το album του "Without Fear" μέσα από το οποίο θα ακούσετε το νέο του single "All My Friends" και ενώ το "Outnumbered" που είναι το τελευταίο του βρίσκεται σε ανοδική πορεία στο Βρετανικό chart. Κάθε χρονιά υπάρχουν κάποιοι τραγουδοποιοί που έχουν αυτό το κιθαριστικό μπαλαντοειδές κλικ στον κόσμο. Για φέτος βάλτε σε αυτούς και τον Dermot Kennedy τον οποίο το blog έχει ξεχωρίσει εδώ και μήνες αφού έχω γράψει για αυτόν...

Υπάρχουν κάποια τραγούδια που θέλουν τον χρόνο τους για να εξαπλωθούν και να γίνουν γνωστά και αγαπητά στον πολύ κόσμο. Βάλτε σε αυτή την κατηγορία το "Power Over Me" του Ιρλανδού Dermot Kennedy ο οποίος φωνητικά θα θυμίσει τον James Arthur ενώ το συγκεκριμένο τραγούδι έχει την ιδιότητα κάθε φορά που το ακούς να το αγαπάς όλο και πιο πολύ. Τώρα το γεγονός ότι συγκεκριμένοι άνθρωποι έχουν την μαγική ικανότητα να ασκούν πάνω μας μία ανεξήγητη δύναμη που όσο μαλάκες και αν είναι δεν μπορείς να υπενικήσεις είναι κάτι που το έχουν βιώσει οι περισσότεροι. Τώρα βρήκατε και το κατάλληλο τραγούδι...
