JIM AVES & GID SEDGWICK - OUTRO

 Looking in the UK top 40 this week there are at least 10 songs that are older releases or have a direct connection with the past.What that means for new music today is something that has different aspects but it's happening.

One of the songs that never became a chart hit since it's release in 2011 but it's a global tune for everybody ever since is M83's "Outro". On October 9 Jim Aves a Belgian DJ and producer who began his musical journey with piano at the age of nine before moving into electronic music production and Gid Sedgwick a British songwriter and vocalist associated with the electronic and trance scenes released their version on the song.This is a new dance interpretation of M83's iconic and tested in time "Outro" instrumental theme. Reworking such a recognisable composition presents an intriguing challenge: preserving its monumental emotional impact while introducing it to a new generation of electronic music listeners.Currently this release is trending a lot in the Uk and my prediction is that this new version will spread across the globe restoring it's chart injustice. That's why you have to look further than the charts for great new music.

FONTAINES D.C - JAPAN

 I can't get enough of the new Fontaines D.C album easily one of the best albums of the year if not the best. Next week multiple songs from the album will appear on the charts with many of them establishing a very personal relationship with the audience. From this no skip album "Japan" is another favourite from "Dopamine Chamber". Blending dreamy indie pop with acoustic guitar and ethereal synths, the song reveals a softer, more intimate side of the Irish band.With its understated delivery, atmospheric production and unsettling emotional undercurrent, “Japan” is a compelling reminder that Fontaines D.C. can be just as captivating in quiet moments as they are at their most explosive. With a video starring Charlie Heaton, best known for playing Jonathan Byers in Netflix's Stranger Things this song will also chart high next week along with their duet with Rosalia which serves as the promoted single.

 Swedish DJ and producer Alesso has one of the most interesting new dance anthems this week. A dramatic violin arrangement opens "Fight For Love" and never leaves, weaving as a recurring thread beneath Alesso’s driving progressive house foundation. Aragon’s powerful, haunting vocals bring the song’s central message of devotion, protection and unwavering commitment to life.Aragon is no stranger to high-profile dance music collaborations, having lent her vocals to Kaskade’s "Runaway" among many more.The melody the instruments arrangement and the whole environment makes "Fight For Love" an easy choice for anyone's playlist.

BOY GEORGE - WE WILL DANCE AGAIN

Basically i am against mixing politics with music but it always happened and always will. From the 60's with anti-war songs to apartheid and feed the world or USA For Africa till the recent "free Palestine" artists "dared" to choose a side and make music for it.Just like a coin has two sides there are many out there who chooses to support Israel instead of the "free Palestine" movement that excuse my English but it's gone too far lately and became the new woke agenda. In a dangerous world Boy George made his choice and released "We Will Dance Again", a reggae-influenced track that became one of his most controversial musical releases.The track, which combines English and Hebrew lyrics, expresses solidarity with Israel and commemorates the victims of the October 7, 2023, attack on the Nova music festival. George also uses the song to challenge criticism of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, placing the release firmly at the intersection of music and politics.As it was expected and after even death threats for Boy George the song is currently on the spotlight demonstrating how music can become a flashpoint for wider political and cultural debates.In a democracy all voices must be heard when someone chooses to do so on the right time and on the right place.In any case it's anyone's choice to hear this song or another from the other opinion but forcing me to embrace or being manipulated on any side is what makes really angry.

ZACH BRYAN ft LANA DEL REY - LIES

 Next week two names will dominate the charts on both sides of the Atlantic.Fontaine D.C and Zach Bryan with multiple songs will leave no room for many others to enter the charts.One of the songs featured on Bryan’s brand new EP "Young Manhood and Other Donatable Organs" is his duet with Lana Del Rey.Built around delicate piano and sweeping strings, the song explores the painful contradictions of a relationship in which desire outweighs honesty.Bryan brings his rough-edged, emotionally exposed vocal delivery, while Del Rey adds her signature dreamy, cinematic melancholy and that really works in my opinion.This is a ballad that can take this song very far all the way to Christmas and maybe beyond that.Zach Bryan and Lana Del Rey together is a pairing I’d happily hear more of. I love the contrast in their voices, and the piano and strings give them a beautiful setting to sing over."Lies" is an easy one to get caught up in and sing along with and that's what makes usually a song a crossover hit.

MORRISSEY - ISLE OF DOGS

 Two previously unreleased B-sides are on the loose by Morrissey since last Friday and "Isle Of Dogs" is my pick between them.It appears as the B-side to the "Kerching Kerching" 7-inch vinyl single and was written by Morrissey and Alain Whyte, his longtime musical collaborator.The song revisits the distinctive world of Morrissey: sharp-edged British alternative pop, theatrical delivery and a melodic sensibility that recalls his solo catalogue and the legacy of The Smiths.It feels an intriguing return to a more vintage Morrissey sound that's why i picked it over "Without Music The World Dies" the other unreleased track also released this week.

BLONDIE - SPECTRAL EYES

 At some point the end would come....The new single from Blondie marks the return of one of new wave’s most enduring bands. Released on October 15, 2026, "Spectral Eyes" is the lead track from "High Noon", their first studio album in nine years and their final due February 26, 2027. The song was written by Johnny Marr, the former The Smiths guitarist, who also contributes guitar and backing vocals.The release also carries emotional weight cause it features the final recordings of founding drummer Clem Burke, who died in 2025.This is a salute to the pop sound that defined the late seventies to early eighties a classic Blondie sound that defined them all these decades.The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band ruled the late 1970s and early ’80s with eight Top 40 hits, including four No. 1s: "Heart of Glass", "Call Me", "The Tide Is High" and "Rapture" which is regarded as the first No. 1 hit to feature rap.

HUGEL & SNOOP DOGG - H.O.U.S.E

 This release caps off an exceptional year for HUGEL. His first album, "Twenty One" was a great success internationally, while his hits "Movin To The Sun" (probably one of the biggest hits of the year) and "Jamaican (Bam Bam)" confirmed his status on the global electronic music scene.Now HUGEL and Snoop Dogg released "H.O.U.S.E" a new single that drops the Long Beach legend into the Latin house groove the French producer has turned into a global formula.To my ears this new dance tune sounds a lot like someone used Lil Louis "French Kiss" and then put Snoop Dogg rap on it.Now Snoop was already on HUGEL's mind since Snoop was already part of his album. He opens HUGEL’s debut album "Twenty One", handling the intro before the record moves into features from David Guetta, French Montana, Big Sean and Ultra Naté.As for this one i would like less Snoop rapping and more chopped vocals but eventually it will work especially if an instrumental version appears.

U2 - THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH

 For several weeks now U2 are preparing their comeback with several new songs that this blog has already reviewed."The Greatest Show on Earth" is the third single from the forthcoming album "Carnaval De Luz" co-written with longtime collaborator Brian Eno.It's a slow-burning, emotionally charged rock epic that combines their trademark atmospheric guitars with Bono’s deeply expressive vocals.Critics have praised the song’s powerful vocal performance, familiar yet compelling sound and carefully constructed crescendo. Bono himself has described it as one of the band’s greatest songs in years."The Greatest Show on Earth" is ultimately about the painful realisation that something once extraordinary may now exist only in memory.The song was released along the announcement of U2's "Greatest Show on Earth" world tour kicking of in latin America in 2027.You can't go wrong by choosing U2 for your playlist not to mention that it's a great song.

OLIVIA RODRIGO & CHAPELL ROAN - EXPECTATIONS

 The second big release of the week is this one. Although the song was already known from Olivia Rodrigo's album i thought that this duet with Chapell Roan as a new version would be a remixed one or maybe better. But in vain since it's almost the same apart Roan's vocals.In the video for the song there is a cameo appearence by David Byrne while the new wave-inflected bop filled with copious handclaps, squirmy synths, and buzzy guitar licks is expected to blow up the next days on the charts.Apart from that "Expectations" yes,it might be a part of this indie-pop era but it's not a song in my opinion that many ( maybe except fans) will remember in two years.There are better songs out there but unfortunately they don't have a Chapell Roan or Olivia Rodrigo to support them.

TATE McRAE - HOUSEWIFE

 There are two major releases this week and this is one of them.Tate McRae is a pop icon of our days but what do you want me to say when her brand single "Housewife" sounds too generic in my ears.Depending on her image and her appeal right now in the pop music scene the song will appear high or lower on the charts.The stunning visuals of the video for the song will definitely help the buzz around this new song by Tate but that doesn't change my first impression of the song.On the othe hand "Housewife" is a bold pop statement that challenges traditional ideas of relationships, success and domestic life.  Not every listener is entirely convinced about it's worth or not however, with some early fan reviews they are finding the lyrics clichéd despite appreciating the production and distinctive sound.With pop music penetrating my ears for so many decades i was expecting more from this one.

JUSTICE, TAME IMPALA, SZA & KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD - FLOWER IN A HURRICANE

 Video games are attracting more and more the attention of artists making huge contributions on the soundtracks of famous and global phenomenon games. And not only that cause like this one most of them are huge collaborations.French duo Justice score for the much-anticipated GTAVI game an electonic rock anthem that stands like a "Flower In A Hurricane".For that reason they team up with Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard switching off vocals on the track, which sounds like a modern take on a song gamers might have heard on the soundtrack for the Eighties-based Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, the setting that GTAVI revisits albeit in a present day. The song also reunites Justice with Tame Impala, who was a contributor to the duo’s album "Hyperdrama".Some say that the song sounds a lot like Dire Straits "Money For Nothing" but i ll say that the moment i heard it it reminded me the riff from Rainbow's "Man On The Silver Mountain".Expect more all star singles over the next weeks related to the game and enjoy this one.

ZARA LARSSON - BLUE MOON

 Describing it as the "sister" of the album’s title track "Midnight Sun" and stating that it deserved a music video and greater recognition Zara Larsson continues to expand her pop attitude in the music world as one of the most noticable."Blue Moon" was later re-recorded with American singer Kehlani for Larsson’s remix album "Midnight Sun: Girls Trip" but in September 2026 in an article with Billboard, Larsson expressed her intention to promote "Blue Moon" as her brand new single.This is an euphoric dose of pop with some DnB details from MNEK who is among the songwriters that puts faith in Zara on becoming her next hit while " Midnight Sun" continues it's way up the charts after so many months. Zara is a pop icon nowdays whether someone agrees or not.

DIGGA - GIRLS ALL AROUND THE WORLD

 I haven't heard a song from that genre trending in the Uk in a very very long time. In the past decades artists like Shaggy, Aswad or UB 40 had huge hits with reggae influenced vibes in the Uk chart. I could explain it if we were moving towards summer but fall isn't exactly the right time for "Girls Around The World" to be a potential hit in the Uk the next days.The real reason for Digga to appear in the charts is a  Morrisson’s recent diss track sparking a wave of discussion across social media. The track divided opinion, with some listeners questioning the language and allegations used, while others defended Morrisson’s side of the story.And the question on how Digga would respond led him to troll rap fans with "Girls All Around The World" a viral reggae-influenced track instead of a response to Morrisson’s diss track!. From his rise through UK drill to chart success, controversy and the different chapters that have followed, Digga has continued to find ways to keep people talking.And this track is a nice surprise despite the reason is trending right now.

 It's not only Rosalia who's rising on the music world. Judeline is no stranger to the blog and she was highlighted before.Her real name is Lara Fernández Castrelo raised in Andalusia and her music is strongly influenced by her roots.With her new single Judeline takes a daring risk on "La Falda" anchored by a sample of Yann Tiersen’s iconic Amélie theme ("J'y suis jamais allé").Underneath the signature 808 thuds and classic reggaeton swing, warm flamenco guitar chops keep the track rooted in her signature sound. Judeline’s vocals float effortlessly over the beat, shifting between airy, whisper-soft melodies and slick rhythmic phrasing. Jack Savoretti is with yet another sibgle from his latest album "We Will Always Be The Way We Were". Blending melancholic piano-led passages with a gradually expanding, almost anthemic arrangement, the song showcases the British-Italian singer-songwriter’s distinctive, husky vocals and emotionally direct songwriting.The song explores the passage of time, the complexities of life and the importance of self-expression. FONTAINES DC & ROSALIA - WHERE IS GONE

 This is a recipe that worked many times in the past. A trap or rap song with a female vocal hook was always something that drew attention.This time Texas hip-hop powerhouse BigXthaPlug joins forces with global pop sensation Ava Max for their collaborative single "Burn" (part of the project "Better Over Time").This fascinating fusion of gritty southern trap and soaring, stadium-ready pop-melody is among the new releases this week that drew my attention maybe because it sounded familiar as a structure. TROYE SIVAN - FF

 The easiest way to keep on the top spot a song is to release every week a variant like Taylor Swift does with almost every single she releases.On the other hand it's getting harder and harder for new songs to become hits unless the social media command it.More and more often songs from the past are getting attention due to variant reasons and AI music is on the rise whether you like it or not.

In this enviroment Troye Sivan released his brand new album with zero singles so far causing a minimum reason to buy it."FF" (an acronym for "F*ing Forever") stands out as one of the most raw and emotionally resonant highlights on Troye Sivan's album "She's the Best". Rather than writing about an existing partner, Sivan frames the track as an undying love song addressed to someone he hasn't met yet.But "fucking forever" with one partner is an utopia if Troye believes so which i bet he already knows. Co-produced and written alongside high-profile collaborators Jack Antonoff, George Daniel (of The 1975), Cirkut, and Jasper Harris, "FF" builds a moody, hypnotic atmosphere. Driven by steady rhythm work and subtle synth layers, the song moves between grounded, conversational storytelling in the verses and an expansive, chanting chorus.So far the best single he released from his new music attempt but still....Will it survive?

SIINA & SPARROW (CH) - STOCKHOLM SYNDROME

 This is a very poor week on new music releases so i had to dig deeper in order to find some "need to hear" sounds that might end up at your playlist. So today i ll make a stop in dance music for something that under certain factors could become your next dance "syndrome". SiiNa is a Paris-based DJ and music producer who has quickly made waves across the global electronic circuit supported by names like Rampa, Adam Port and more. With the help of Sparrow (born Bryan Coletta), a Swiss DJ, producer, and classically trained pianist they released "Stockholm Syndrome" a hypnotic masterclass in modern electronic rhythm.The track builds its tension through hypnotic percussion loops and rolling low-end warmth that steadily captures the floor making it a sophisticated club weapon. This is my dance proposal this week without a doubt.

 When country music and hip-hop collide, the result usually leans into novelty crossover territory. But on "Solar Eclipse" Drake and Don Toliver take a far more sleek approach. Originally teased in Drake’s FOMO short film before hitting streaming platforms on the "HABIBTI" album project, the track strips down one of the year's biggest country anthems and rebuilds it into a late-night ambient slow-burner."Solar Eclipse" directly interpolates and reworks Ella Langley's smash country hit, "Choosin' Texas" which i m feeling deeply angry about the impact that has on the charts. In few words it doesn't deserve all the chart records it made and continue to break cause after the straight number one for Taylor Swift with "Patient Zero" Ella Langley will return to number one.But charts are what they are nowdays so i focus on what music has to offer besides numbers and records.As for this one rather than sounding like a forced attempt at a country-pop hybrid, "Solar Eclipse" feels like an effortless nocturnal chop-and-screw interpolation. It respects the earworm melody of Langley’s original while pulling it entirely into the OVO orbit.

MICHAEL KIWANUKA - SUMMER CLOTHES

At the end of July 2025, Michael Kiwanuka was back home with his 2024 album "Small Changes" been critically acclaimed and the rise to the top unavoidable.And then at the age of just 38, he’d had a haemorrhagic stroke that recently revealed in an interview making his next album as himself disappear from the face of music.He underwent emergency surgery and was then in intensive care for months to support his breathing. Kiwanuka has no memory of this. Once he was well enough to breathe on his own, he left the ICU and spent five further months in hospital before moving into a rehabilitation centre in Hampshire. In that time, he has not once been able to return home, and the trajectory of his rehabilitation remains uncertain.Kiwanuka is now releasing his before the stroke recorded album "Fudge" in October and first single is "Summer Clothes" with his eccentric, genre-busting mix of psychedelic rock, prog soul, blues and gospel that had marked him as a real one-off all over it.He decided to release this now cause he doesn't know how long it will take until he can release another record.Get well soon Michael, welcome back and make it soon on your feet cause the world needs your talent.

LIL NAS X - WORLD'S GREATEST

 Everybody deserves a second chance but the truth is that the first time he couldn't handle it. I don't believe that Lil Nas X is extremely talented to be in music but the first time he was too much of everything and created a buzz that finally ate him alive.Now look at this picture of his brand new single. Now that he is clean there is a cross on the wall a descent outfit no sign of provocative gay activities and "World's Greatest" bets for his comeback second chance.With a personal audio message from his late mother, Lil Nas X has chosen to honor her memory through the release of his new song.The song is a chest-out homage to self-confidence in the face of haters, with lyrics about rising up from the bottom.I have heard this sound in previous Lil Nas X songs so there is nothing new here but it's a descent release for him.

 After Miley left her previous record label to release her brand new album on a new one she didn't like the recieve the promotion for her single and the album even if it went to number one Hot 200 this week.In order to increase sales and streaming Miley releases a new single from "Bass Persuades" in the form of an intense, gothic-pop track called "New Religion".The single features shared vocals and writing from rock band's Model/Actriz frontman Cole Haden alongside Miley Cyrus.While critics highlight the track as one of the strongest, most energetic moments on "Bass Persuades" i m not really very "persuaded" that this is the best choice as the new single although the song has an interesting sound that makes a difference from most copy paste recipes i hear.

 After Depeche Mode and Yazoo Vince Clark made one of the greatest synth pop duos of  the 80s along with Andy Bell that ment to make Erasure a legendary name in the history of music.And now the duo is off to new pop adventures with a brand new single and a brand new album to soundtrack our lives. "Wings of Love" is the first track from a forthcoming studio album alled "Radio!! Radio!!" due for release on March 12, 2027.The sound is classic Erasure which is fine but there is a thing with Andy's voice that sounds tired and slightly not as clear as it was in the past which is perfectly natural cause time passes by.After all being around for 40 years is not easy.2026 marks the 40th anniversary of their debut album and they continue to refine and deepen the pop edifice they’ve been building for four decades."Radio!! Radio!!" is Erasure’s 20th album release and the songs in it are rooted in Erasure’s unique synth-pop palette.Besides it's all over "Wings Of Love".

 Am i the only one that feels that this brand new Sugababes single sounds like a speed up version of "Messy"?Cause if i am then there is something wrong with my ears."Ghost" is the first taste of the Sugababes return with a new album due to drop 12 February 2027. The original trio of Mutya Buena Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy are willing to return in music after 25 years and this one is showing the way.Liquid-like, mature, sophisticated pop, with just the right balance of dreamy fantasy and terse grit, "Ghost" is a good  pop single that it may sound familiar but also claims a radio play over the next weeks.

MORTEN HARKET ft TOMINE HARKET - HOLD ME

 Yes that one from 80s "Take On Me" and "The Sun Always Shines On TV" and so many beloved songs by A-HA that makes his voice so familiar to all us gen-xers.This song is the first taste of the upcoming solo album "Human Grace" which will be Morten Harket's first full-length as a solo artist in over ten years. After undergoing surgery that affected his vocal cords, Harket says that his voice has now largely returned in the studio.And yes "Hold Me" is a collaboration with his daughter, Tomine Harket which makes this release quite interesting apart from the fact that the song is really really good and emotional touching.His album will be released on Nov 27 and the first single is more than satisfying.Very much needed for anyone's playlist cause songs like that remind us all what pop music was all about.

U2 - SILENCIO

 Going on for 50 years is not an easy thing to do but U2 are a legendary band just like The Rolling Stones.Sustaining the same lineup for the entire duration of their career they are about to release a brand new album called "Carnaval De Luz" and "Silencio" is the second single from that.Unlike "Street Of Dreams", the album’s first single, an uplifting, folk-rock track, relying heavily upon The Edge’s nostalgic, signature ringing, ambient guitar accompanied by Bono’s echoing vocals whilst merely struggling to sustain much of an atmosphere beyond that, "Silencio" insists on a full throttle electric-rock sound, featuring funky hooks, reminiscent of the band’s earlier work on "Achtung Baby". "Silencio" succeeds as a signifier that U2 sustain the ability to remain as open and experimental as ever, continuing to add new dimensions to their impressive fifty year long discography.

 Every Taylor Swift new release is without a doubt the biggest music talk about of the week and a potential number one hit single cause that's just the way it is for Taylor.With Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell starring in the video for "Patient Zero" and many speculations about who is that guy the song comes alongside "The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore", Swift's newly announced expanded edition of the album.The song comes as a natural part of the Max Martin's sound on the album and i ll bet you that it will debut at number one everywhere.There are three more new songs on the expanded version of the album that will come out in late October and their names are "Cleveland!" "Pink Clouding" and "Babylon".That means that all winter long the Swift songs will be all around the radios so Swifties enjoy.

TAME IMPALA - LOSER (FCUKERS REMIX)

 His impressive transformation this year from an underrated artist writhing mostly hits for others while his music and solo albums were mostly ignored was one of the main music events this year."Dracula" was the reason why Tame Impala is going to have a multi nomination award tsunami by the end of the year while his last year's "Loser" due to "Spiderman" use is the follow up to the charts sustaining his effect in music this year.Who knows maybe next year his name may be forgotten from the hit status but his talent will never keep Tame Impala away from creating interesting music.Since from last year "Loser" remained "untouched" this remix will warm up dance venues, djs and the audience with this new dance perspective.
