GORILLAZ ft BIZARRAP, KARA JACKSON & ANOUSHKA SHANKAR - ORANGE COUNTY

 I m not the biggest Gorillaz fan but when they have a good single i say it.In fact Gorillaz have dropped two new singles, "The Hardest Thing" and "Orange County", which feature collaborations from Bizarrap, Kara Jackson and Anoushka Shankar.These are also gonna be featured on their forthcoming album, "The Mountain", which is set for release on February 27."Orange County" has this uplifting and optimistic approach that really drew my attention with Kara Jackson on vocals, and by 14-time Grammy-nominated sitar player Anoushka Shankar.This is a nice one...

GORILLAZ ft BAD BUNNY - TORMENTA

 "Cracker Island" is a great album from Gorillaz and i suggest you to grab it in any form you want.Apart the fact it contains one of the best single for 2023 so far and that is "Silent Running" it also contains collabs with the legend Stevie Nicks, Beck and this one with the latin mega latin star Bad Bunny."Tormenta" will serve as the brand new single from "Cracker Island" and although it's not the best one in it i think it will draw some attention...

GORILLAZ ft ADELEYE OMOTAYO - SILENT RUNNING

 This one happens to be one of the best new songs this week if not the best one and for sure the best i ve heard from Gorillaz so far.The Albarn virtual band will release their new album "Cracker Island" by the end of the month and the collectors will have the opportunity to buy it in a special vinyl splatter edition so get ready."Silent Running" is simply a perfect song.Having Adeleye Omotayo on vocals from the vocal group The Humanz Choir this song got a supreme quality that matches my taste in music.Escape from reality by putting "Silent Running" in a constant repeat.So perfect...

GORILLAZ ft TAME IMPALA & BOOTIE BROWN - NEW GOLD (DOM DOLLA REMIX)

 The original version didn't make it to my blog cause although i like the collaborations Gorillaz are making the outcome is many times very futuristic for my ears.That doesn't mean that Gorillaz don't have an audience for that.It's just not for me...And just like that here comes Dom Dolla to remix "New Gold" and transform it into something that is totally compatible with my speakers.The "Miracle Maker" performs his best magic just like founding "New Gold" in the field..

GORILLAZ - BABY QUEEN

 Gorillaz are a strange train all this time.All the experimental music Damon Albarn has on his mind finds a way out all this time through this virtual group.Plenty of times i really can't follow up with their music although there are many fans out there.But the main reason their singles can't be on mainstream radios is that their music needs very open minded audience."Baby Queen" is their third single of their upcoming album "Cracker Island" and it's also part of the Fifa 23 world cup soundtrack.This single is one of their best has nothing to do with all previous i wrote and it's a nice surprise.No need to say that it will also fail the charts but gain a place in your heart.

GORILLAZ ft AJ TRACEY - JIMMY JIMMY

 Aw it will be announced tomorrow The Kid Laroi's "Stay" will stay for a fourth week at Billboard's top spot while Ed Sheeran will move one place up at number two. In the Uk "Bad Habits" is expected to spend a tenth week at number one making this a really bad habbit for Ed. More from the charts in next posts so stay tuned.

There is something about this song in the new Gorillaz Ep "Meanwhile" that brings back to mind some good memories from the early 80's. "Jimmy Jimmy" is a combination of The Specials meet The Madness in a kinda rap way with the help of the superstar rap in the island AJ Tracey. Only Gorillaz and the Damon Albarn's musical mind could resurface this sound in 2021.

GORILLAZ ft ROBERT SMITH - STRANGE TIMEZ (ROBERT SMITH AURORA REMIX)

Αυτή είναι μία συνεργασία που την περίμενα όπως έγραψα και στο chat box δίπλα και που στην single version δεν θα την βλέπατε στο blog γιατί είναι αρκετά περίεργη για τα δικά μου γούστα. Ευτυχώς όμως που υπάρχει αυτό το remix το οποίο κάνει το νέο single των Gorillaz να θυμίζει πιο πολύ Cure. Θεωρώ πως όποιοι αποφασίσουν να το παίξουν στο ραδιόφωνο αυτήν θα επιλέξουν και ίσως γίνει ακόμα και εμμονή αφού το "Strange Dayz" σε αυτή την μορφή μπορεί να προκαλέσει "κάθαρση" για τα αυτιά μας..

GORILLAZ ft PETER HOOK & GEORGIA - ARIES

Οι Gorillaz είναι γνωστοί για τις συνεργασίες τους και εδώ έχουμε μία από αυτές που βγάζουν μάτι. Δεν μπορεί να μην προσέξεις τα guitar bass riffs του Peter Hook από τους New Order γιατί είναι τόσο γνώριμα όσο και το "Blue Monday". Μέσα κάπου στο βάθος έχει και την Georgia στα backing vocals οπότε όλο αυτό το British new wave bliss είναι αδιαπραγμάτευτο. Το "Aries" μόλις έσκασε μύτη και το βρίσκεις asap...

GORILLAZ ft SHOWTHAI & SLAVES - MOMENTARY BLISS

Oι Gorillaz αποφάσισαν να εμφανιστούν και πάλι με το νέο τους project το οποίο έχει τον τίτλο "Song Machine". To πρώτο επεισόδιο είναι το "Momentary Bliss" ενώ το δεύτερο θα εμφανιστεί σε δύο εβδομάδες. Καθαρά Βρετανική μίξη punk pop και ηλεκτρονικού ska θυμίζει παλιές καλές εποχές της Βρετανικής μουσικής σκηνής όπου συνέβαιναν πράγματα. Δεν υπάρχουν περιθώρια μεγάλης επιτυχίας πέρα από το νησί που θα ξυπνήσει θύμισες ενώ οι κριτικοί θα χύσουν πολύ ηλεκτρονικό μελάνι. Το bliss είναι εξασφαλισμένο ο έχων ώτα...

GORILLAZ - SORCERERZ

Στις 29 του Ιούνη θα κυκλοφορήσει το νέο album των Gorillaz "The Now Now" αλλά μέχρι τότε τα τραγούδια του album έχουν αρχίσει ήδη να κάνουν την εμφάνιση τους. Είναι γνωστό ότι το animation group δεν ψάχνει για την εμπορική επιτυχία αλλά πειραματίζεται με ήχους προσπαθώντας να κάνει πρωτοποριακή μουσική άλλες φορές πετυχημένα άλλες φορές όχι για τα δικά μου μουσικά γούστα. Όπως και να χει οι fans των Gorillaz είναι αρκετοί και φυσικά κάθε κυκλοφορία τους αποτελεί δέλεαρ για τους μουσικόφιλους...

GORILLAZ - LAKE ZURICH

Oι Gorillaz επέστρεψαν με δύο νέα singles ένα εκ των οποίων και το καλύτερο κατά την γνώμη μου είναι το "Lake Zurich" ένα ορχηστρικό κατά βάση jam το οποίο αγγίζει την ηλεκτρονική soul με έναν τρόπο που δεν μας είχαν συνηθίσει οι ίδιοι στο παρελθόν. Το νέο τους album "The Now Now" θα έχει συμμετοχή εκτός από τον θρυλικό George Benson που θα τον βρείτε στο δεύτερο single τους  και αυτή του Snoop Dogg και είμαι περίεργος να ακούσω με πόσα άλλα είδη μουσικής θα έχουν νταλαβεριστεί. Προς το παρόν ακούστε αυτό εδώ και βγάλτε και τα δικά σας συμπεράσματα.
