GOODBOYS - BLACK & BLUE

 Yes the charts is a good place to start for hit music but you can't restrict yourself inside them in search for music. Goodboys the house group we got familiar with through Meduza are on the roll again with a brand new single.They haven't really redeemed the success after that but they are trying with some descent dance pop house music that doesn't make the difference but still is a good choice for everyone. Go "Black & Blue" unless you are colorblind..

DIGGA D , STILL BRICKIN - PUMP 101

 This is the first time i hear a drill rapper from the Uk to link directly to Dr Dre's sound and particularly to G-Unit's "Stunt 101" which he uses as a sample. Together with another drill rapper Still Brickin they entered as a new entry the Uk Top 10 the highest of the week. The streaming is high the sales are poor and as the radio plays (go figure). The truth is that i enjoyed "Pump101" which i expect to go hogher next week..

CHARLI XCX ft RINA SAWAYAMA - BEG FOR YOU

 This is the third single from the upcoming new album by Charli XCX called "Crash" out March 18.And although Charli is making good pop songs the receive is still lukewarm. I guess all it's missing is the virality through a social media like Tik Tok or the streaming factor and the radio plays. While she is building up her profile in the world of pop "Beg For You" is another nice single with Rina Sawayama joining on vocals and a british two step rhythm along this release.The song was produced by Digital Dog Animals and contains a sample from December's "Cry For You" in case it sounds a little familiar to you.

 This is maybe the most important new release of the week because of the name George Ezra has established at least in the Uk. But is this comeback with a new single something worth waiting for? The first listen of "Anyone For You" does not justify the waiting. This is a happy pop song that can be appealing to the citizens of Britain and sounds kinda cute but it's not a global smash. Maybe George Ezra is saving the best for later but for now i can't really relate with this naive happiness that the song does deliver..

 It's always great if someone from the past returns to music business no matter what.And it's over a decade since the voice of Savage Garden has released new music. The voice of "To The Moon And Back" decides to make a comeback by releasing a brand new single called "Let's Try Being In Love". I love Darren Hayes but i will be honest. This single sounds a little bit outdated and it would be great in the 90's but for now is no good.  After an extended hiatus that needed The Chainsmokers are back with a brand new single that comes out from a new album to be released later this year. The 2 years absence comes after the downfall in their previous releases and hopefully will do them good. "High" will go for an immidiate radio play in the USA and has the sound that sells right now from other artists like The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber.. After very few repeats it's too early for me to have an honest opinion but my sense it says that a top 10 position in many countries is about to happen.

 FKA Twigs has already released multiple singles from her brand new album. And i ll say it again that "Caprisongs" is the first great album of the year that needs to be storaged. If you like "Woman" by Doja Cat then you will love "Jealousy" together with Rema. All it takes is a big hit to lift off the success of this multitalented artist and it will be a shame if this song gets overlooked. Big support from me to this album (not that it matters) and on repeat....

 New fruit in the music industry. Sounding a lot like Sia is the singing way with a sample from Kanye West's "Heartless" and David Guetta providing the synths and the driving bass lines this is the debut single by Sorana. This sounds like a catchy bop that will take some time to establish a chart position despite the fact Guetta is in it. But if it does and the radios follow the lead then this could be a summer hit. Just wait and see...

TEDDY SWIMS - LOVE FOR A MINUTE

 One very interesting new artist from USA is about to blow upsooner or later. This is the first time a write about Teddy Swims on Sound Fist and i really feel he worths it. He started from You Tube covering Michael Jackson's Rock With You" that became viral. Then some other covers gave him the opportunity to sign his first record label deal and the releases of some songs that led to this year's Ep called "Tough Love". Listening to that Ep i found many interesting songs but i ll stick to "Love For A Minute" that became almost instantly one of my favourites this week. I can't really explain the things that got me into this song but the 80's beat and feeling is there.

SOFIA KOURTESIS - ESTACION ESPERANZA

 She comes from Peru, she is based in Berlin and her name is so Greek that she is hardly not from a Greek origin. She has established a highly reliable profile in dance music since last year's breakout Ep and her music is really unique. This is not what we call mainstream dance so don't expect to see Sofia taking rides in the charts. This is rather lounge music with a feel good vibe and you can all hear what i mean in her brand new release for 2022. "Estacion Esperanza" samples Manu Chao's "Me Gusta Tu" and opens with a Peruvian chant from a protest against homophobia with tropical synths that will make you feel the difference in music...

TOVE LO - HOW LONG

 I like songs with a start, middle and end. The philosophy has been forgotten in many cases since the 80's and only in extrordinary cases the song was interesting enough for me.  Was Fred Again an one hit wonder with "Marea"?  Nektunez became a phenomenon after the success of "Ameno Amapiano" the remix version with Goya Menor on vocals and this "You wanna chill with the big boys....." lyrics. This is the original version that some, or too many may use this summer as a club anthem that will fill the speakers in a big way. The multi genre from Ghana producer based in Atlanta with this production links to Deep Forest or the Enigma productions that became very popular some past decades ago. The thing that a band is still there after 44 years is the reason why we love the 80's and the music that led to today.This is a lost forgotten song by Simple Minds that remained a demo till today. It was going to be a part of their first album but it never made it. This mythical long lost song was burried for almost 5 decades until a band member found it and decided with the rest of the band to put all the missing pieces together and release it as a celebration to their first gig in Glasgow 44 years ago. The influences and the scent of their youth is in the air of "Act Of Love" so now the puzzle is completed.

Dj Sava is an old acquaintance making Balkans hits very digestible to ears that don't have many chances for worldwide success.  On January 21 we will have the album by Years & Years which is called "Nightcall". Although his latest single with Galantis didn't get the attention he was expecting is still on the roll in the Uk hoping for a spotlight.I said it before i ll say it again if Years & Years won't have a hit from his new album then his carreer is in jeopardy. This is a promotional single due to the release of his album next week. "Sooner Or Later" is a descent song much better from the previous ones in my opinion. With this one he has better chances to gain better reviews and an expanding hearing on the radio..
