 And just like that...it's 2007 all over again.The idea came up after Nelly Furtado's return to music so now it's happening and this trio meets again once more."Keep Going Up" marks the first time the trio have released a song together since 2007’s smash hit "Give It To Me".Different times all of them had a new sound to offer to music so comparing this one to a different period only ruins the outcome.The signature Timbaland sound is there but "Keep Going Up" sounds too old school for 2023.It's not a bad song it's just outdated...

 Imagine Dragons have the ability to create great songs that pass the test of time.And this one is so cinematic, so beautiful arranged with a production that reminds old rock classic period.It's so different from almost everything i ve heard all year that makes in my ears unique.Children of the Sky (a Starfield song) is inspired by Bethesda’s space role-playing game which launches early September. The song, like the game, asks some of the most difficult questions we face as humans trying to find our place in the universe.Either way this is a great song and one of the best i ve heard this year..

 Tiesto is one of the most productive djs in the world and he never rests.In order to keep his profile on the top djs of the world he produces one song after another and this one has only one purpose.Since it's not a pure dance anthem "Both" aims the mainstream radios and the main charts.Together with 21 Savage and Bia for the vocals this song has all the elements to recieve a high streaming place on the radio but will it on the streaming services?It's a good pop dance song but too ordinary for my taste.

 This can easily be said due to so many covers, revivals, remixes and samples from the past.On the other hand having classics from the past in any form is a music botox due to lack of inspiration.Following a hugely run with Steps and topping the charts with their "Platinum Collection" album Claire Richards returns with her second solo album "Euphoria".On this album there are two duets which one of them is with Delta Goodrem for a powerhouse rendition of Barbara Streisand and Donna Summer's iconic classic "Enough Is Enough (No More Tears)".If you are not familiar with the original version then you just have to look that up asap.And after you do that compare it with this one.Not very far but still a classic is a classic..

 Whether you like it or not this song is already number one on Billboard's Global chart for six weeks making it one of the most succesful songs of the year.Due to massive streaming and tons of different versions "Seven" by Junk Kook and Latto gets the statistic needed for all these measurements but in the end only time will tell how big this song was.The latest version of the song is a remix by Swedish dj Alesso that  adds waves of synth bass and rhythmic variation that help the track (according to the press release) encapsulate the sound of sizzling summer nights.And helps the djs to add it on their playlist.Oh well...

OMD - BAUHAUS STAIRCASE

 There are many legends from the 80s and Orchestral Manouvres In The Dark are for sure headliners.The Uk synthpop legends announced their first album in six years "Bauhaus Staircase" and they shared the title track as the first single. That title refers to the architectural style, not the pioneering goth-rock band, but it’s worth remembering that OMD were once peers with that Bauhaus.So many hits and memories from this band from "Electricity" and "Enola Gay" to "If You Leave" from the "Pretty In Pink" ost.And i m so glad they are still here making music....

GUNS N ROSES - PERHAPS

 This is the worst week of the year when it comes to new releases so i ll have to get out the fat from the fly.I will also be very harsh on my reviews starting from this one.This is the first release in 30 years with the basic line up from Guns N Roses.It’s going to be very, very difficult for new Guns N’ Roses music to meet the expectations surrounding the very idea of new Guns N’ Roses music, especially now that Slash and Duff McKagan are back in the band.The studio recording hides any vocal problems Axl has that they were obvious in their live concerts so "Perhaps" doesn't have this problem.The problem is that the song is out of place and time even for the band's history if not for the new music reality which it is.I m not saying that artists from the past shouldn't record new material anymore.I just wish they sounded closer to what they were.

 Bananarama had a great strings of hits back in the 80s with their cover on Shoking Blues "Venus" being their biggest charting hit.This song was a hit back in 1969 by Shocking Blue remained a classic, till Bananarama's version in 1986 expanded it's legacy.Now you know that rave's reborn as a genre is what came out this year so Boys Noize sped up more the Bananarama version and the outcome is a "rave hell".For me i think that its too much cause in any case i prefer the 1969 version.There are other Bananarama songs that i love way more...

His TikTok account, was relatively unknown that is, until this past weekend. Anthony went from thousands of views to millions for his song "Rich Men North of Richmond". It comes off as a working-class anthem taking aim at the powerful and the politicians in Washington, D.C. who are, as the song says, just north of Richmond.It speaks about selling your soul for low wages, powerful forces controlling your life, and a working person's dollar not going very far.  Anthony, has struggled with mental health & coping with alcohol.And now this....He has the fastest selling single of 2023 and i hope he can deal with all this sudden fame.The country phenomenon is global and not just in the USA.And country genre was the one that stood up this year without a doubt.
