 Kenya Grace was a nice surprise this year since "Strangers" made such an impact to the audience.But now it's the moment of truth for her if she doesn't want to be on the long list of one hit wonders."Paris" is the follow up to her number one Uk single and it's a musical journey to the capital of France with her.If that drum n bass background with melody vocals softly whispering in the air is her musical trademark then "Paris" follows the exact same recipe.But this recipe was already tested and succeed once will it be enough once more?Maybe but i m not a fan of repeating the same thing in follow up singles."Paris" is nice but we have already been there...

 She is the global artist of 2023 and no one can denies her that.All though she recycles her old albums in not very different versions along side with some new tracks from the vault Taylor Swift is the pop star of the decade."You 'Re Losing Me" was originally released as a bonus track of the CD-exclusive Late Night Edition of Swift's 2022 studio album Midnights and wasn't availiable on the streaming platforms till today.And you know what happens when anything new or unavaliable from Taylor gets an official release.The mid tempo ballad is expected as usual to break into the charts worldwide in the next days and if it holds it's ground why not a Christmas number one...

SEKOU - BETTER MAN

 All i want to say is bring the Parthenon marbles back home cause they belong at the Acropolis museum with the rest of their "brothers and sisters".Supporting your culture Mr Sunak means that we share the music your country produces but you don't own something you stole and it's a part of our history.I needed to get that out and share it with the world cause justice must be served.

Now who is that guy that suddenly entered the Brits Rising Star 2024.I must say that it skipped my radar but listening to "Better Man" i can clearly see that he worths it.Sekou is a 19 year old British singer-songwriter, born in Leicester but now based in London. His music is an intriguing mix of mellow commercial pop melodies, R&B, soul and even hip-hop.Bitter piano ballad "Better Man" is a bruising listen at first and if he wins it will definitely have a chance at the charts.Caity Baser and The Last Dinner Party are the fellow nominees at that list and Sekou is the outsider although i prefer him.

 As Jack Harlow dominates both sides of the Atlantic with his latest single we are moving forward to the last month of the year.A year that rap music didn't have so many big hits in total comparing to other years.It might took some time for Lil Tecca's second single "500Lbs" from his third album to get an attention but now it looks like it's going to be an early 2024 smash in the charts.In the song, he uses intoxicating melodic raps to talk about his trust issues, minor relationship problems, and how he enjoys smoking before going to church (lol).A heavyweight lifting on the charts for Lil Tecca.

 Practicly this is a one hit wonder that never went away.Written primarily by guitarist and singer Trevor Rabin, contributions were made to the final version by singer Jon Anderson, bassist Chris Squire, and producer Trevor Horn.Over the decades this song has been used in every sense of the term and the latest effort is this dance remix by pokenon named djs Farfetch'd.From progressive rock to a dance anthem is a long drive but this duo seems to have managed to pull out a good one.

Good Job Nicky is an artist from Greece that i m not sure i like him very much but his persistence in making pop music in a country that has a very misplaced idea about popular music is something that at least i can give him that.I m sure that his dream is bring his music to the world and not the Greek market so in order to do that he must take some "flights" in before he moves on abroad.His latest single was released worldwide and it sounds like a Jung Kook, Justin Timberlake thing that has nothing really to jealous about their sound.The song is a duet with another Greek pop artist Evangelia with many greek pop hits on her belt in a very short period of time.I m sure that at some point they will both try the Eurovision contest in order to get an European career but for now this long lost thing called "Videotape" comes alive once more and it's kinda catchy...

 It's already happening so if you want new music this blog will try to keep you safe from all the Christmas charts that will fill the air with a kinda fake happiness we all need to tell you the truth.I wasn't very warm supporter of the original version although i like Dom Dolla and he is very influential among the djs.I was expecting for a remix version and when it came upgrading "Saving Up" to whole new sound i have plenty of room for that.Loods is responsible for this new version of the song and it's already making waves on my playlist.

 Paloma Faith is a "Bad Woman" or at least she pretends to be by releasing her second single which is taken from her highly anticipated sixth studio album, "The Glorification of Sadness".The empowering new track belongs in the field of adult listeners so it's unlikely to become a chart hit in the Uk in my personal opinion.However if your music taste is not satisfied by the easy copy paste songs that they do become hits this might be a good choice for you.

 With music one thing is for sure that you lost the track of time.Sometimes it's hard to know who the producer is just like in this case but there is a background for the song.The original version comes from 1978 when Chris Norman and Suzi Quatro made "Stumble In" a worldwide hit.It ranks among the classics and the bold decision Cyril made to bring it into today well, it's just great!!!This is a dance version of the original that respects it in everyway and it will appeal not only to genx listeners like me but in the younger generations too.

SWITCH DISCO - VACANCY

 Switch Disco consisting of Dan Creasy and Nikos Kalogerias has been riding high from the runaway success of their "React" single with Ella Henderson, which peaked at #4 in the UK Official Charts and spend 10 weeks in the Uk official chart's top 10.The follow up is finally here and it will pretty much show if they were an one hit wonder.With vocals by Ruth-Anne Cunningham and a melody that sounds pretty much to Binary Finary's "1998" this club anthem will try to give them another hit.Although the release period is wrong "Vacancy" is a pretty good dance anthem but not as catchy as their preview one.Many will say it's a banger but i will keep that term for a real one.None the less it's a good single for them...

BJORK & ROSALIA - ORAL

 Save the salmons of Iceland against foreign-owned farming.I was never a Bjork fan except a couple of songs cause she is such an elf in music and i just couldn't reach her through my pop heritage no matter what.Sometime in the late nineties, Björk wrote and recorded "Oral", a song that she thought was too poppy for release on albums like Homogenic or Vespertine. Then she forgot about it. She recently rediscovered it in her archives and turned it into a duet with Rosalía, in which the two women sing about falling in love with a man and not knowing how to express it.And that poppy side of the sound makes it quite interesting for my ears.Quite a pairing...

 They say that the best covers are coming from artists you didn't expect.Besides that how easy is to cover an iconic Tina Turner song in a descent at least way.Well this band did an amazing cover on Tina Turner's "The Best" that could easily rank in the top 10 covers this year.Formed in 2017, Nicotine Dolls Cieri vocals, guitarist John Hays, bassist John Merritt and drummer Abel Tabares have been releasing singles and EPs since 2019. So appearing on the talent show America Got Talent seemed to be a shot worth taking.With a distinguished voice Cieri and his band are giving this stripped guitar driven version of "The Best" that will surely mean something to you.

 The best covers often comes from artists you never expected and this week i have a couple of those for the blog.Alex O'Neill, better known under the stage name Ayokay, is an American producer and DJ from Michigan.He is been around from 2016 and he had some hit singles on the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic but since then nothing very interesting till today.His electronic cover for Coldplay's "Clocks" caused a big attention on my radars.So if you are looking for a pretty cool cover to spend the cold winter nights during Christmas time this is a playlist favourite.

 If i had to choose a seasonal song for this Christmas time then it will definitely be this one by Kaskade.Taken from his album "Christmas Volume 2" this electronic cover from a traditional folk anthem called "Angels We Have Heard" is the perfect unconventional choice to light up your X-mas tree.This effort is a collab with The Moth &The Flame among many more that can be found on this seasonal album which will be performed for a one-time at LA's Orpheum Theatre on December 20th.What a great tune..

 What i hate about Christmas in music is that it lasts too long....It starts from mid November and it lasts until early January.In that period old and new Christmas songs are all over the place with the old ones dominating everything over and over again.One of the new original Xmas songs this year comes as a surprise by the legendary Bon Jovi."Christmas Isn't Christmas" has more a Nashville southern vibe than a Christmas traditional one that makes it a very weak contestant for the seasonal playlist in the future.However Bon Jovi are Bon Jovi and the fans out there have been treated properly...

 The last time i wrote about Tyla and "Water" she was pretty much unknown apart Africa but look at her now.With a top 10 single in The Uk and a Billboard Top 10 in the next days, "Water" managed to captivate everybody and talk about her.And when something like this happens then artists like Marshmello or Travis Scott will run for a remix version of this profound hit.Although i prefer the original version with the afrobeat feeling this version with Marshmello is made for the pop and dance audience while the Travis Scott entry on the other version speaks to the rap audience.Anyway "Water" will still be here long after Christmas period just wait and see...

 With Tate McRae having her biggest hit of her career so far with "Greedy" and her album "Think Later" coming on Dec 8 it's time to find out if she is moving up or that was just a coincidence.And what a perfect way than a brand new single that will serve as her follow up."Exes" is sending kisses to her all ex boyfriends but won't send her back to where she is now.The pop vibe is there but it's not as groovy as "Greedy".Or this is just an opinion with no base at all.It's not that it's a bad song it's just not as good and catchy as it should be.The sound probably suits more to the Uk charts than the US audience...

 There is no way Eliza Rose will remain a one hit wonder after this release.Her "B.O.T.A" was a number one hit for Eliza but after that none of her releases managed to enter the Uk top 40.Now that she teamed up with Calvin Harris things are about to change with "Body Moving" being a hit alert ready to explode in a few days.I don't know if it will have the chance to go all the way to number one but "Body Moving" is a certain hit during the Christmas time even if it has to face Mariah Carey or the Wham syndrome.

JUNGLE - GOOD AT BREAKING HEARTS

 One of the best albums this year that i really enjoy using as my daily soundtrack is Jungle's "Volcano".This album is made to recieve a lot of awards but the best one is those given by people's hearts.Jungle have outdone themselves when it comes to the visuals for their singles from this album and this one serves as the album’s heart and soul."Good At Breaking Hearts" is a melodic tune about the ups and downs of love and heartbreak.This is probably the second best song on "Volcano" after "Back On 74".

 The reason why i prefer the Uk charts are due to the variety of music, genres and sounds that manage to become hits.And these two rappers from the "island" have managed to cross the borders and get an international appeal."Nice to meet you", a track featured on PinkPantheress newly released album, "Heaven knows" is expected to make it into the Uk top 20 this Friday marking the influence and the chemistry these two have.This is the first time these two make a collab and probably not the last one.Is that intro from the song a sample from Spandau Ballet's "Gold" or am i hearing wrong?

 What better high energy song from the 80s to cover in modern times techno style than "When The Rain Begins To Fall".Sylver are a Belgian Eurodance and pop group, which originally consists of lead vocalist Silvy De Bie and keyboardist/songwriter Wout Van Dessel.In any case go hear the original smash by Jermaine Jackson and Pia Zadora from 1984 cause the original was such a big hit in Europe back then.There's no way not to love "When The Rain Begins To Fall" even if it is covered today by this Belgian duo.

 As many albums just before Christmas Maneskin's "Rush" gets a reissue with four new songs in it.Selling again the same album with some new additions is a way  for record companies to gain a profit straight out from the fans.Cause if you are not a fan or a collector why buy it again?"Valentine" has been chosen as the new single and it's a rock ballad conventional in its sounds but atypical in its lyrics. Damiano sings about a suffocating love that leads to madness, intertwining his voice with guitar arpeggios.Ok....but nothing special here.

 Straight to the point...Is it a banger? For me no cause while it has a nice groove it's flat.Is it going to be a hit? Yes cause it's Dua Lipa and her brand new era.Will it stay forever? Not like her previous hit singles.The song comes from the inspired pairing of Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker and Caroline Polachek/ Charli XCX collaborator Danny L. Harle.There’s been little advance word about what the new album sounds like. She recently told the New York Times that it’s inspired by "1970s style psychedelia" (although there’s little indication of that here). "Houdini" will be massively streamed the first days and will be everywhere.But what about the duration of the song.Still it's a nice pop song but...
